Tor

Tor is an oil and gas field that is located 13 kilometers northeast of the Ekofisk Complex at a water depth of 70 meters. The field was discovered in 1970 and started production in 1978.

Tor 2/4 E is a combined accommodation and process platform that was installed in 1975. The living quarters module was replaced in 1982 and has 92 beds. The number of people on board the platform is normally between 30 and 40. The platform no longer has a separate derrick, so drilling operations take place with a hired drilling rig.

The production from the field is processed on the platform before it is transported further. The gas is processed and sent to the gas lift module for compression, while residual gas is transported with the oil in a 14-inch pipeline to Ekofisk 2/4 J. From here, the oil is exported to Teesside in the UK and the gas to Emden in Germany through the Norpipe pipelines.

Tor is the smallest of four producing fields in the Greater Ekofisk Area. The field is mainly located in block 2/4 in production license 018, but a small part extends into block 2/5 in PL 006. The reservoir is located at a depth of about 3200 meters. ConocoPhillips is the operator with an ownership interest of 30.66 percent.
