The Logistic Center is one of several centres within integrated operations. The marine part of OLC started in December in 2004. At the time, it was an ordinary day-time operation with planning of vessel shipments and coordination of cargo from onshore. In 2007, the center started onshore coordination of cargo and vessels offshore between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm on weekdays. On 1 September last year, the start-up of full continuous operations of the marine logistics center commenced in Tananger.
‘For us in OLC the one-year anniversary of around-the-clock operations is a big event. An incredible amount of work has been involved in, for example, preparation of schedules, personnel, construction, procedures and technical facilitation, to get to where we are today’, says Paal Bjåstad, director, marine logistics.
He also emphasises that it is the joint efforts of several parties that has made this possible.
‘The skilled and hardworking personnel at the center have really made the extra effort when needed. ‘We have also had very good cooperation with the radar service at Ekofisk, which has been an excellent support for us’, says Paal Bjåstad.
The OLC has always been pro-active as regards integrated operations and the operation of the center.
‘To be able to do our job in the best possible way, we are dependent on a network in order to make the best decisions. We focus on continuous improvement of this interaction at all times’, says Øystein Ekeli, logistics manager.
Siem Sailor is one of the supply vessels in regular traffic between Tananger and the Greater Ekofisk Area. Captain Tommy Antonsen praises the collaboration between the vessel and OLC.
'Around-the-clock support is instrumental in making our job more efficient. The communication is good. Consequently, we avoid misunderstandings and reduce idle time.'
All vessels loading and offloading offshore are now coordinated from the logistics center in Tananger.
