1970

Conoco is awarded its first production licence on the Norwegian Shelf

1971

Prime Minister Trygve Bratteli formally opens production on Ekofisk from Gulftide

1973

The company’s office and base/quay facility in Tananger outside Stavanger is opened

1974

Conoco acquires a considerable interest
in the Statfjord field

1975

The first crude oil is transported through a pipeline to the Teesside terminal in the UK

1977

The gas terminal in Emden, Germany, is opened

1977

The blowout on Ekofisk 2/4 B (the Bravo blowout)

1979

The Eldfisk field enters production
