With the Eldfisk 2/7 S topsides installed on the field, the Eldfisk II project is well underway with the commissioning phase.

250x_Artikkelbilde_ConocoPhillips-Eldfisk-0975.jpgIn May, the two modules that make up the Eldfisk 2/7 S topsides were transported from Kværner’s yard on Stord and lifted into place on the Eldfisk Complex. Now the offshore commissioning work has started. At the peak, around 550 people will be working to complete the platform, connect systems and prepare for starting production from new wells in the first quarter of 2015.
Modification work on existing installations at Eldfisk and pipeline connection will take place in parallel with this work.

"We are very pleased with delivering the topsides from the shipyard to Eldfisk 2/7 S according to plan. Now we will ensure that the new structure fits in with the existing infrastructure on Eldfisk. Then we can hand over a high-quality project that will provide efficient, safe operations for the years to come," says Olav Henriksen, Eldfisk II project manager.

The construction on Stord started in February 2012. The sub-deliveries have come from shipyards in Poland and Finland. More than 2,000 people were working on the topsides during the most hectic parts of the construction period.

"Eldfisk II is a highly extensive project comprised of many elements,’ says Tor Inge Hansen, anager, Europe Capital Projects. ‘I’m pleased that the work is on schedule so we can hand over the new platform to the company’s operations department next year," he says.

The objective of the Eldfisk II project is to improve recovery and maintain safe, stable production for many years to come. The project includes the new integrated platform Eldfisk 2/7 S, 40 new wells, new pipelines, a new power and fibre optic cable and reconstruction of existing infrastructure on the Eldfisk field.
