ConocoPhillips har gjort et betydelig gassfunn på norsk sokkel

HOUSTON – ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) offentliggjør i dag et nytt gass- og kondensatfunn i utvinningstillatelse 1009 lokalisert i Norskehavet, 35 km nordvest for Heidrun-feltet og 241 km fra kysten. ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS er operatør for utvinningstillatelse med 65 prosent eierandel. PGNiG Upstream Norway AS har 35 prosent eierandel.

Funnbrønnen, 6507/4-1 ble boret på 400 meters havdyp, med en total lengde på 4960 meter. Foreløpige anslag antyder en størrelse på funnet på mellom 50 og 190 millioner fat utvinnbare oljeekvivalenter. Videre avgrensing av funnet vil bli gjennomført for å vurdere potensialet for utvinning og plan for utbygging og drift.

- Vi har bygget en sterk posisjon på norsk sokkel siden funnet av Ekofisk-feltet i 1969, og vi er en svært aktiv deltaker og partner både i Nordsjøen og i Norskehavet, sier Matt Fox, executive vice president and chief operating officer. – Dette funnet, som potensielt kan være det største på norsk sokkel i år, støtter vår posisjon i Norskehavet og Heidrun-feltet. Funnet på Warka og potensielle fremtidige muligheter har svært lave utviklingskostnader for tilførsel av utvinnbare ressurser, som kan bidra til fortsatt suksess i flere tiår fremover på norsk sokkel.

Brønnen Warka ble boret av boreriggen Leiv Eiriksson, som etter ferdigstilling av brønnen skal bore letebrønn 6507/5-10 S (Slagugle) i utvinningstillatelse 891, 23 km nordvest for Heidrun-feltet. ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS er operatør for utvinningstillatelse 891 med 80 prosent eierandel og Pandion Energy AS er medeier med 20 prosent.
