ConocoPhillips awarded three operatorships

ConocoPhillips Norway is awarded operatorships in three licenses in the Norwegian Sea and in the North Sea in the 2021 Awards in Pre-Defined Areas (APA 2021), announced 18 January.

The two Norwegian Sea operatorships are located close to ConocoPhillips’ recent discoveries, nearby the Heidrun field where ConocoPhillips is planning for exploration and appraisal drilling later this year.  The North Sea license PL 1146 is located southeast of the Oseberg area.

‘The newly awarded licenses reflect our exploration strategy and priorities’, said Arild Skjervøy, Exploration Manager Europe. ‘The licenses in the Norwegian Sea increases our footprint in the area close to our recent exploration successes, and we are excited to explore these areas further’.

The PL 1163 license was granted with a 40 percent ownership to ConocoPhillips and is located next to the ConocoPhillips-operated PL1064 which is the host for the upcoming Peder well. ConocoPhillips was granted a 70 percent ownership interest in the PL 1166, south of the PL 891 Slagugle discovery. Both licenses are located nearby the Heidrun field.

In total, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy awarded 53 production licenses located in the North Sea (28), the Norwegian Sea (20) and the Barents Sea (5) in the 2021 APA. 28 oil and gas companies.
