ConocoPhillips marks rainbow anniversary

Today, 21 April 2022 ConocoPhillips is hoisting the Rainbow Flag at the Tananger offices to demonstrate solidarity and support with LGBTQ+ people in the company and in society in general.

Until April 21, 1972, being gay was prohibited by law with sentences up to one year in prison. It was on this day 50 years ago that the law banning homosexual practices was abolished. Several cities and communities will mark this historical changing point by hoisting the flag.

Several cultural events will be held throughout the year, under the label “Queer Culture Year” (Skeivt kulturår).

“I am proud that we as a company attend this celebration. Even though there have been improvements since the law was removed, our society still has a way to go. In ConocoPhillips, we are raising the flag today to emphasize that everyone should have a safe workplace, with opportunities to be themselves,” said Steinar Våge, ConocoPhillips President, Europe, Middle East and North-Africa.
