The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has approved the Plan for Development and Operation for Eldfisk North. Planned production start-up is 2024.

Eldfisk North will be developed with three 6-well subsea templates approximately seven kilometers from the Eldfisk Complex. The plan includes drilling of up to 14 wells, with nine of the wells as producers and the other five wells are for water injection. The Eldfisk North project will use available capacity for processing and transport in the existing infrastructure in the Greater Ekofisk area.

The drilling program will be carried out by the jack-up rig West Elara.

‘Now that we have received final approval, we will continue our work towards first oil planned for 2024. We look forward to delivering another high-quality project, Manager Capital Projects ConocoPhillips Norway, Tor Inge Hansen said.

Investments associated with the project are estimated at around NOK 10.5 billion. The emission intensity for greenhouse gases in the Eldfisk North project is calculated at seven kg of CO2 per barrel of oil equivalent. The resource potential is estimated to be in the range of 50-90 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The contract awards for the project are estimated to create 4,000-4,500 jobs, with more than 80 percent of the contract value for both the development and operational phases will go to Norwegian businesses.
