At ConocoPhillips Norway, we passed a major milestone this fall. The production from the Ekofisk field reservoir alone reached three billion barrels of produced oil over a period of 50 years.
Since the production started in 1971, the Greater Ekofisk Area (GEA) has created significant value with a total production of six billion barrels of oil equivalent. All of the eight fields have created an estimated value of 2,600 billion kroner, whereof 1,200 billion kroner represents taxes and fees.
In the GEA, about 3,000 people work on installations, rigs and vessels. About 1,000 employees and contractors work offshore at any given time. In addition, the operations offshore are also supported by 900 employees onshore.
‘Over five decades, Ekofisk has been developed and maintained by thousands of committed employees and contractors. Through continued innovation and teamwork, we continue to build our business for the long-term’ said Jan-Arne Johansen, General Manager operated assets Europe.
